Seizure Event Information

My name is Darin Cook. I have a condition called Functional Neurological Disorder.   If you have landed on this page it's likely that you have found me needing some help.  My service dog Walter has a QR code that gets you to this page.  

In the event of a seizure do not call 911. 

I have Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). 

Emergency services will not be able to help. Calling 911 will not help Darin through his seizure. 

The greatest threat to Darin's safety is an injury due to a fall or hitting his head during a seizure.

Please help Darin stay in safe environment until the seizure subsides.   It can be hard to watch Darin go through these seizures.  Know that he can generally hear you, but can't respond.  He may be uncomfortable during the event, but isn't in great pain.  The seizures may come and go and can last for several minutes.  

Things to do:

• Call one of the emergency contacts below
• Stay calm
• Keep Darin safe
• Talk to him, he may not respond but he can hear you. 
• Protect his head
• Allow the seizure to happen
• Don't restrain or hold him down
• Ease him to the floor
• Gently turn him onto one side
• Clear the area around Darin
• Remove his eyeglasses

Anti-seizure medication as the opposite effect for me and will cause me to have more seizures.  My seizures are non-epileptic.
